Adrian, MI – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that there were 216 new COVID-19 cases in Lenawee County on Friday.

The new cases, from two days of reporting, increased the total number of cases from 2,218 to 2,434.

Statewide on Friday, the MDHHS said that there were 17,162 new cases from Thursday and Friday, with 172 deaths over those two days. 108 of those deaths were identified during a Vital Records review.

From the MDHHS website: “Regular reviews of death certificate data maintained in Vital Records reporting systems are conducted by MDHHS staff three times per week. As a part of this process, records that identify COVID-19 infection as a contributing factor to death are compared against all laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). If a death certificate is matched to a confirmed COVID-19 case and that record in the MDSS does not indicate the individual died, the MDSS record is updated to indicate the death and the appropriate local health department is notified. These matched deaths are then included with mortality information posted to the Michigan Coronavirus website. As a result of the most recent assessment, today’s data includes 108 additional deaths identified by this methodology.”

There have been 341,941 total confirmed cases, with 8,933 COVID-19 deaths in Michigan since the start of the pandemic.

The State of Michigan reports COVID-19 recoveries every Saturday, and as of Nov. 20th there were 152,267 of them.

In Lenawee County, there were 22 total COVID-19 related deaths.
