Lenawee County Health Department to Halt Weekend COVID-19 Reporting

Adrian, MI – The Lenawee County Health Department is reporting 4 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

308 of the 617 total confirmed cases were monitoring at home as of Friday afternoon. 293 people were discontinued from isolation and improving.

There were 3 COVID-19 related hospitalizations in Lenawee County as of Friday afternoon.

The Health Department said on their website Friday that beginning Saturday, September 5th, data on cases and deaths will be reported Monday – Friday.

The Department said that weekend data is often erratic and generally lower than other days due to reduced testing and lab staffing. Mondays’ reports will include data from Saturday and Sunday. Any holiday that falls on a weekday will be reported on the next business day.

The State of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services recently announced that they will not be reporting COVID-19 updated numbers on Sundays.

This news comes as Adrian College and Siena Heights University have been dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks on their campuses. The change was also announced one day after an Executive Order by the Health Department was issued to limit outdoor gatherings in Adrian City, Adrian Township, and Madison Township to no more that 25 people after the recent outbreaks.

Statewide on Friday, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that there were 982 new cases, and 7 deaths.
