Tecumseh, MI – Re-Tree Tecumseh (RTT) are looking for volunteers to help plant trees on Saturday, June 27th, 9am–12pm. The group will meet at AJ Smith Recreation Center, 810 N. Evans Street, Tecumseh.

RTT’s spring planting was put on hold until the COVID-19 stay-at-home order was lifted. But now it is ready to proceed with installing 20 new flowering trees along North Evans Street. Volunteers should wear masks, and social distancing will be observed.

No planting experience is necessary; experts will demonstrate the proper way to plant and mulch a tree. Volunteers are asked to wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing, and to bring a shovel and/or garden rake and gloves if they have them.

The event will happen rain or shine, according to a post on the group’s website. Middle school-age children and older are welcome to participate. Water and light refreshments will be provided.

Jim Karle of Karle Landscaping (Tipton, MI) will be donating his time and equipment to dig the holes for the trees, which were provided at a reduced cost by Rich Hoadley of R & W Tree Nursery (Morenci, MI).

Re-Tree Tecumseh is a grassroots organization, founded in 2018, whose mission is to establish and fund an ongoing tree-planting program on public property in the City of Tecumseh. RTT planted 31 young trees in 2019 and hopes to plant a total of 75 in 2020. Learn more at www.retreetecumseh.org.

Please RSVP to Cheri Hinkleman, RTT president, at 517-423-5906 or chinkleman@comcast.net.
