The Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education has agreed to hire experienced Superintendent Brad Hamilton as the district’s Interim Superintendent.

WLEN News asked Hamilton how his experience will be applied to this particular board…

Hamilton also told WLEN News his first task as Interim Superintendent…

He will serve in this role for…maybe…a few months.

In addition to hiring Hamilton, the Tecumseh Public Schools Board of Education passed resolutions to repeal competency based grading, to adopt the LISD Policy on public participation, and to set a date for a special board meeting to evaluate the budget.

With the move away from competency based grading, the school board moved another step away from the policies and procedures implemented by former Superintendent, Dr. Kelly Coffin. It also aligns with the board members’ election platform when they were running for their positions back in November, 2018.

These important resolutions were passed by a 4-0 vote… as board members John Benzing, Kevin Johnson, and Milton Abbott were not at the meeting.

WLEN News asked board president Tim Simpson if he felt the resolutions would have passed by a convincing margin if all seven board members were present…

A full recording of the meeting from Monday night is available below:
