THE WLEN RADIO STORY As our name implies, we have continuous RAPPORT with the people of ADRIAN, TECUMSEH, BLISSFIELD, HUDSON, MORENCI AND ALL OF LENAWEE COUNTY. We have the LARGEST share of the radio audience in Lenawee County. We reach our listeners - 25 - 54 audience age group. The BUYERS with an adult contemporary/full service format. WLEN Radio is proud to be an award winning radio station, including being honored as the 2004 National Association of Broadcasters Adult Contemporary Station of the Year and being named the Michigan Association of Broadcasters 2002, 2003, 2005, & 2006 Station of the Year for Market 3 Radio. WLEN has received national, regional and state recognition for news, public service and promotions. In both 1998 and 2001, WLEN Radio was the recipient of the prestigious National Association of Broadcasters "Crystal Award" for excellence in community service. WLEN Radio was one of only 10 radio stations across the country to receive this award.
We have the most complete and comprehensive LOCAL NEWS coverage, because we have the most experienced and largest news staff. Led by News Director, Tim Hernandez, we are Lenawee's award-winning news team, recognized by Associated Press as "Michigan Station of the Year" in 1995. WLEN Radio News has also been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, the Associated Press and the University Press Club. WLEN Radio is Lenawee County's Sports Leader. We carry more local sports than any other station. In the fall, we carry the entire schedule for the Adrian High School Maples and the Adrian College Bulldogs. Our basketball schedule includes an all county schedule through tournament play as well as coverage of the Siena Heights University basketball games. Our days begin with the morning team of Jerry and Steve, Lenawee's locally focused morning show. Jerry and Steve offer local news, sports, weather, family news, community information and more weekdays between 5-9 am. Then you can join Dale Gaertner, WLEN Radio program director, who has over 20 years with the station. Dale entertains with a great mix of music and interesting conversation from 9:00 a.m. to Noon weekdays. Then, join News Director Tim Hernandez for an hour of news, sports, weather and other information from Noon to 1:00 p.m.. From 1:00 to 5:00 it's the Afternoon Show with Tonya Lightner who provides music, conversation, and information during the drive home. From 5:00 to 6:00, tune in for another hour of news and information with Tim Hernandez. 6:00 to Midnight brings us Mike Reynolds with Lenawee's only live evening show. Continuing our rapport with our listeners, we have weekly remote coverage at locations throughout Lenawee County, broadcasting nearly 100 remotes yearly.
