Jerry Hayes began his broadcasting career at WLEN in 1996 when he was hired to work the Saturday evening shift.  In 1998, he moved to the weekday time slot where he remained until 2003 when he assumed Bob Butler's chair on the morning show.  Jerry worked along side Steve Barkway until the fall of 2004 when he left broadcasting to explore an opportunity in the insurance business.  After realizing he missed radio tremendously, Jerry returned to the morning show in January, 2006 and since then, he and Steve have won several awards including MAB Market 3 Broadcast Team of the Year in 2009.

So what does Jerry do once he gets off the air at 9:00 a.m.?  He spends the rest of his day as development director at the Lenawee County Mission, a faith-based non-profit that he got to know well through his work at WLEN.  Jerry is also attending school full time and will graduate from Siena Heights University in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

In his free time, Jerry enjoys spending time with his wife Darlene and their son Jackson.  Travelling to northern Michigan is another favorite on Jerry's list and he also enjoys reading and studying about the Holy Land.  Jerry is very active in his church and serves on the ELCA Southeast Michigan Synod's Task Force on Jordan and the Holy Land which works with the Christian community in Palestine, Israel and Jordan.

Musically, Jerry enjoys listening to a wide range of music from contemporary Christian to classical.  Some of his favorite foods include Mexican, corned beef and cabbage, anything from the middle east and a good 'ol steak hot off the grill!
