The owner of a Monroe County daycare was found dead from a self-inflicted injury two days after a unresponsive infant in her care was taken to a hospital.

On February 5th, a three-month-old infant was taken from the Live, Laugh, and Learn Daycare in Monroe Township to Promedica Children’s Hospital in Toledo because he was unresponsive.

It was discovered that the infant had sustained significant brain trauma while in the care of the daycare’s owner, Jamie Vanslambruck.

Due to the nature of the infant’s injury, a criminal investigation into Child Abuse was initiated by the Michigan State Police. Two days after the infant was taken to the hospital, Vanslambruck was found dead in Lasalle Township from a self-inflicted injury.

The investigation into the cause of the infant’s brain trauma is ongoing. If anyone has any information relating to this case, contact the Michigan State Police Monroe Post at (734) 242-3500.
