Britton Deerfield Schools will induct 12 middle school students into the National Junior Honor Society at its annual induction ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Deerfield Building gymnasium.
“At Britton Deerfield, we are committed to academic excellence,” said Stacy Johnson, Britton Deerfield superintendent. “We are honored to recognize our students for their service, leadership, citizenship and character through the National Junior Honor Society.”

Students must have a 3.5 GPA or higher and go through an application process to qualify for the society.
“Our students work incredibly hard both inside the classroom and through their participation in Britton Deerfield’s athletic and extracurricular programs,” Johnson said. “Many of our students also give back by volunteering throughout our community. I’m proud of our newest inductees in the National Junior Honor Society.”
The program is run by Deerfield Building teachers Dawn Cousino and Lesa Smith. Present members include Madelena Arriaga, Lila Bundshuh, Haley Carter, Camryn Fore, Kaitlyn Goody, Claire Molnar and Bailee Shankleton.
