Tecumseh Public Schools will reveal the collaborative effort to restore the district’s Chief Tecumseh statue prior to Tecumseh Compass Learning Center’s Open House. The open house will take place at 5pm Monday, August 27th 307 N. Maumee St. in Tecumseh. A Tecumseh High School learner, local business owner, and several young volunteers participated in the restoration effort as a part of a Boy Scout Eagle Project.

The statue of Chief Tecumseh, first dedicated in 2012, has undergone restoration and repair and will be returned to the main entrance of Compass Learning Center. The statue was carved into the Shawnee Chief’s likeness from the stump of a tree. Weather and time caused significant decay to its base, resulting in the statue’s collapse last month.
