Clint Bowyer gambled by changing just two tires after Stage 2 and won a rain-shortened FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday night. The race was delayed nearly three hours by rain and was called early at Lap 133 when another storm wet the track once more. The race was halted with Stewart-Haas Racing claiming the top three spots. Ford cars finished with seven of the top eight spots.

Clint Bowyer took two tires when most others took four on his last pit stop, went on to win in the No.14 Haas 30 Years of the VF1 Ford. Kevin Harvick, who had led the most laps (49), finished second in the No.4 Jimmy John’s Ford. Kurt Busch, who started on the pole, finished third in the No.41 Monster Energy/Haas Automation Ford.

Clint Bowyer celebrates with the trophy after winningBowyer led seven of the race’s 133 laps, all after passing teammate Harvick on Lap 126, to earn his second win of the season and first ever at MIS.

The race was one of the best in recent memory at MIS, in part because the threat of rain loomed large over the end of every completed lap once the race went official after Stage 2.

Drivers will have next weekend off before racing in the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Sonoma Raceway in California on June 24th.
