2018 Parks and Engineering Projects Overview

Numerous projects are on the calendar in the city of Adrian for this summer. Some of these have been completed, while others are set to kick-off next week. WLEN News drove around the city with Todd Brown, Parks and Engineering Services Director to give details on the projects. Here is a run-down of “construction season” in Adrian:

Milling and paving operations on Main, Maumee, and Winter Streets will begin on Monday, June 11th. Work will be completed overnight, from 7pm till 7am from Monday through Thursday. On street parking will not be allowed during those times. Please plan on avoiding those areas if possible as minor delays may occur.
Cold patch building which was constructed to store materials used to patch potholes.
Cold storage building that is used primarily for vehicle storage.
Vine Street in the City of Adrian. This stretch of road is scheduled to be completely reconstructed. A complete reconstruction consists of removal of surface materials, curbs, and up to 24 inches of material underneath the roadway. Once everything is removed, the rebuild can begin.
View from the northwest corner of the intersection of Division Street and US223. There is a an approved plan to add a ‘right turn only’ lane on southbound Division Street. Another potential project, which would require resources from the State of Michigan, is to add a ‘left turn light’ as well.
View from the intersection of South Winter Street and Dawes Ave. South Winter Street from West Beecher down to US223 will receive surface treatment this summer. The method to be used is called ‘chip sealing.’ It will essentially add an extra layer of protection onto the existing surface, providing waterproofing and adding to the overall integrity of the street.
Recently completed work at Trestle Park in Downtown Adrian. The old railroad ties will be removed an replaced by structures similar to the one pictured.

***Projects not pictured include: the resurfacing of Riverside Ave, Broad St., and a small stretch of Division Street. The Maple Ave. Sewer project. Resurfacing of various parking lots.***
