“I would like to first thank you and express my sincere gratitude for the opportunity to have served the City of Adrian as your City Administrator for the past four and a half years.”

Those were the opening words spoken by, at the time, Adrian City Administrator Shane Horn at the Special Meeting of the Adrian City Commission on Monday, May 14th. Horn resigned from his position at the start of the meeting, which will be effective Friday, May 18th of this year. Horn went on to say, “It is my desire to see the City of Adrian thrive, while it is difficult to walk away from twenty-six years of service to the City, I believe based upon current circumstances that this move is in the best interest of the City as well as myself and my family.” Near the end of Horn’s resignation, he said: “There remains much work to accomplish, this work can be performed much more effectively by pulling in the same direction.”

Horn, a life-long resident of the City of Adrian, completed a degree in Water Quality from Lake Superior State University. He was hired by the City of Adrian as an Operator at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in May of 1992 and did this for a year and a half before transferring to the Water Treatment Plant as a Plant Operator.

Horn was promoted to the Water Plant Superintendent position and began taking classes at Siena Heights University in Public Service Administration, completing the degree in 2004. In December of 2007 he was promoted to the Director of Utilities position. In November of 2013 the City Commission appointed Horn to the position of acting City Administrator and he served in that role for four and a half years.
