State Rep. Bronna Kahle welcomes the community for a conversation about what is being done to prevent opioid abuse and addiction, as well as exploring potential solutions to the growing opioid crisis throughout Southeast Michigan.

“Michigan is among the states hardest hit by the opioid crisis. Too many families have lost loved ones,” Kahle said. “Confronting and combating this crisis requires collaboration with many people and organizations across our community. This is why I am bringing together this group of dedicated individuals for an important public conversation.”

The panel will include Lenawee County Prosecutor Burke Castleberry, Lenawee County Undersheriff Troy Bevier, the Michigan Attorney General’s Office, Lenawee Community Mental Health, a recovered opioid addict, and a local high school student.

“The statistics related to opioid abuse are deeply disturbing, but witnessing the human face of addiction, including neighbors, friends, co-workers, and family members is devastating,” Kahle said. “I look forward to hearing from the community and working with them to develop solutions to help fight this crisis here in Lenawee County and across our state.”

The informational meeting will take place on Monday, May 14, at the Lenawee District Library, located at 4459 W US 223, Adrian, MI 49221, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
