WLEN News received details from Tecumseh Public Schools District Communications Coordinator Judson Lohman to clarify an alleged threat against Tecumseh Public Schools this morning. Lohman said that there was a rumor of a threat to the school on social media. Concerned parents contacted the school and told them about the threat, and the school called in the Tecumseh Police Department to conduct bag searches as students came into school Thursday morning. Lohman said that the students were very cooperative throughout the whole situation.

Lohman went on to say that a recent transfer at the school commented on a social media post threat made by a student at her previous school. Current TPS students saw the comment and misinterpreted it as a threat against TPS. Authorities then determined that the threat was not directed at TPS, but rather made towards a different school district.

A Tecumseh police officer was stationed at the High School for the remainder of the day as a precautionary measure.
