Pill Problems

WLEN News had a conversation with Harvey Schmidt of Schmidt and Sons Pharmacy and talked about something that is affecting all local pharmacies. The issue is with Promedia employees and where they can get their prescriptions filled. Schmidt tells WLEN News how many times his pharmacy, and other local pharmacies, can fill prescriptions under the new Promedia employee policy…

In a statement from Dr. Julie Yaroch, president of ProMedica Bixby and Herrick Hospitals, Dr. said:

“With drug cost continuing to rise, an increasing number of employers in our region and across the nation are having to re-evaluate the prescription benefits they offer to employees – and ProMedica is no exception. After much research and consideration, ProMedica determined that the most cost-effective prescription benefit plan for our employees with maintenance medication needs is the 90-day mail order plan with CVS Caremark. Despite this change, our employees still have the option to have the first or a one-time prescription filled at any local, network pharmacy. This is a business decision that in no way minimizes our commitment to area businesses. As always, ProMedica is devoted to helping Lenawee County thrive.”
