NBA G-League Player Zeke Upshaw Dies At 26 After Collapse On Court

NBA G-League player Zeke Upshaw is dead after collapsing on the court during a basketball game on Sunday. He was 26. Upshaw, a 6-foot-6 swingman from Chicago, was in his second season for the Grand Rapids Drive, the development league affiliate of the Detroit Pistons. He collapsed at the end of a game Saturday against the Long Island Nets and was taken off the court on a stretcher. Upshaw was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead Monday morning,  While initial reports suggested cardiac arrest, a cause of death has not been announced. Upshaw played college basketball at Illinois State for three seasons before transferring to Hofstra University. As a senior in 2013-14, he averaged 19.8 points and 4.1 rebounds. The team said it was mourning the loss in a statement Monday afternoon.
