Hepatitis “A” Confirmed in Lenawee County

There is a confirmed case of Hepatitis “A” in a Lenawee County resident. The Lenawee County Health Department has confirmed the case. The individual is not considered to be at high risk of spreading the disease to others at this time.

The Hepatitis “A” virus is a contagious liver disease most commonly spread by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with feces or by oral contact with contaminated objects. It is not spread through coughing or sneezing. Symptoms may include fatigue, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, yellow skin and joint pain. Some people may show no symptoms.
