State Rep. Bronna Kahle of Clinton, Michigan Tuesday testified with state Rep. Jason Wentworth before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in support of her legislation that recognizes families that have lost a loved one in combat. The bill will waive the registration fee for one individual in each household to receive a Gold Star Family license plate, as is currently done for totally disabled veterans and ex-prisoners of war.

A Gold Star Family License plate is available to immediate family members of military personnel who have lost their lives in combat, including the deceased veteran’s spouses, parents, siblings, and children.

House Bill 5239 remains under consideration by the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
